Meet Dean
Established in 2008, Direct Core Drilling is an Essex-based diamond drilling business run by Dean, providing a professional diamond drilling service to the construction industry.
With extensive industry experience, Dean is a CSCS-qualified Skilled Diamond Driller and Sawer and holds an NVQ Level 2 qualification. He’s committed to reliable service and quality workmanship to a high standard, and to meeting the demands of every project efficiently and professionally.

What we do
A specialist drilling company
Diamond core drilling is the whole business. That means round holes through walls and floors, angled cores where a pipe needs a fall, and larger square or rectangular openings formed by stitch drilling.
We don’t fit the pipes, ducts or flues that go through the holes. Your builder, plumber, electrician or engineer does that. Our job is to put the hole where they need it.
How we work
Our approach
Start with photos
Most jobs start with a few photos and some rough sizes. From those we can work out what’s involved and price it.
Drill accurately
The drill runs on a rig rather than by hand, which keeps the bit steady, straight and on the marked position.
Control the water
Diamond drilling is usually wet. Our photos show the water and slurry handled at the drill with collectors and wet vacs, and cores collected in buckets.
Equipment
The kit you’ll see on site
- Core drill motors on rig stands, set up vertically on floors, horizontally on walls, or at an angle.
- Vacuum bases: a base plate held down by suction, so the rig needs no fixings into a finished floor. About vacuum-base drilling.
- Diamond core bits, including large-diameter bits for brickwork.
- Wet vacs and water collectors to deal with water and slurry at the drill.
